We’re a Maine masonry contractor that plans first and builds right. Our work shows up on hospitals, schools, banks, and homes across the state. We focus on clear scope, clean execution, and details that hold up in freeze–thaw winters.
Our Story
Treat every projectlike our own
Founded in 1987 by Russell Bonin, Bonin Masonry has one core belief: treat every project like it’s your own. We never sacrifice quality for speed. What started as a small mid-coast shop is now a trusted contractor for commercial and residential work across Maine.
Russell learned early that great stonework takes patience, precision, and respect for the materials. After college, he worked for local mason contractors and carried forward those traditional skills—adding modern project management and clear communication. Today, Russell leads the company with his son, Dan Bonin. The standard is the same: plan first, build right, finish clean.
Russell Bonin
President
Russell founded Bonin Masonry in 1987 after learning the trade in high school and working for local contractors. He built the company on old-school craftsmanship and clear communication, becoming known for stonework, fireplaces, chimneys, walls, and patios. Today, Russell leads the business alongside his son, Dan, and also serves as a pastor in Searsport, Maine.
Dan Bonin
Vice President
Dan grew up on jobsites and has been part of the work since he could carry a bucket. He earned a B.S. in General Construction Management from Bob Jones University in 2012, returned to Maine, and has run the business full-time ever since. Dan also holds a Maine real estate license.
Mission & Values
What Drives Us
Our Mission
We provide exceptional service to our customers and contractors while building an environment that inspires our people to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. We go further together.
Our Vision
To become the premier residential and commercial masonry company in the northeast by challenging the status quo of the construction industry.
At Bonin Masonry, we live by five core values that guide everything we do:
Trust — The foundation of partnership. Standing with someone through challenges and successes, with their best interests in mind.
Loyalty — Commitment to ongoing relationships and the attitude and behavior they demand.
Courage — Striving to be different and bold, living out of purpose. Being fearless, intentional, and willing to go outside our comfort zone.
Humility — Being concerned with others more than ourselves.
Excellence — Pursuing perfection while balancing grace and reality, never accepting mediocrity. We are consistently good rather than occasionally great.
Our Promise
What Sets Bonin Masonry Apart
We Plan First, Build Second
While other contractors start swinging hammers, we start with site walks, material coordination, and timeline mapping. Our pre-planning process prevents the delays and change orders that derail projects and strain relationships.
We Communicate Like Partners
You won't chase us for updates or wonder what's happening on your job site. Our foremen provide clear, professional communication because we understand that your reputation is on the line alongside ours.
We Build for Maine's Climate
After 37 years working in Maine's harsh winter cycles, we know which materials and techniques actually last. Our mortar mixes, flashing details, and anchor systems are designed for decades of Maine weather, not just immediate appearance.
Our Culture
How We Work
We believe in hard work. We will never sacrifice profitability for growth. We have hard conversations to push each other to be better. We are professionals and treat everyone with respect regardless of how they treat us. We lead but also listen.
We are resourceful, spending as little as necessary to achieve the outcomes we desire. We are problem solvers. Anything is achievable with hard work, commitment, and consistency.
